Smarties Refraction

May 6, 2012

These are some refraction photos that I took a few weeks ago, with the kids. A lot of fun was had by all, especially them, after the photo shoot when they ate the subjects…

Have a great week πŸ™‚

Sweets – Jelly Beans

September 17, 2010

My wife LOVES Jelly Belly Jelly Beans. I thought these would be great to photograph but, there’s too many colours in a regular pack so, they don’t fall very naturally and the photos often don’t work. I found he hipstamatic iPhone image to be much nicer than a regular macro shot.

AND that brings sweet week to a close. This means I’ll have to do some work and get new ideas for next week. πŸ™‚

Have a great weekend.

I ‘love’ this photo. πŸ™‚ I think it’s cute and Elliot loved the love hearts.

Also, my friend, Christos has finally got his act together and now has a photo blog. Please check it out.

Sweets – Cola Bottles

September 15, 2010

The least favourite of my sweet week photos but the most favourite of my the sweets. I’m not really a big fan of sweets, preferring savoury products instead but, fizzy cola bottles… mmmmmmm!!

Sweets – Tic Tacs

September 14, 2010

This was the first photo I took for sweet week. I was torn between this and the smarties for my favourite. The smarties are the most colourful for sure, but, I like the set up of this one.

Sweets – Smarties

September 13, 2010

One of the things I wanted to do with my macro lens was to get some nice close up sweet photos. I spent a week buying sweets and Elliot was only too pleased to help me set up shots, press the remote trigger and consume the leftovers. πŸ˜€ At the end of the week of shooting I figured, smarties are the best sweets for macro photography, strong colours and not too many different ones.

Allsorts

July 21, 2010

I can’t stand Liquorice Allsorts, they taste horrible; however, the blue one looks quite nice. πŸ™‚ To create this photo, I got a black marble kitchen chopping board, piled up the allsorts and placed a black (or white) card behind them. Β These photos were taken with the 60mm Canon macro lens. The white card image has a grey looking base, this was down to the flash. I think for the black image, I left the light on and did a longer exposure. I prefer the whiter image, although a line where the card meets the board is clearly visible and quite distracting.
