Oil and Water

March 25, 2012

This past weekend was a lot of fun and very tiring. We stayed at the Legoland Hotel this past weekend just as it was being invaded by Star Wars characters. Coming to breakfast to see armed storm troopers is a great sight. 🙂

Anyway, the picture below was a lot of fun to create. Oil drops in water, with wrapping paper underneath. One child doing the lighting, the other pressing the trigger button and me doing the focusing… fun 🙂

So, this is a busy week for us… the theme parks re-opened this week and our kids (and I)  love Legoland so we returned back there for fun times on Saturday, then of course Sunday is Mother’s Day.. and a happy Mother’s Day to all Mummies out there. 🙂 Then this week Joshua and I both have our birthday, one is still in single figures and the other’s… is not. As Elliot says to me, you’re old, I now regret saying the same thing to my Dad! 🙂

Well, onto this week’s photo… a book, fanned nicely 🙂

Have a great week 🙂

Today was the first day that actually felt like March, warm weather, beautiful blue sky. So pleasant and a good change from the recent old spell. The daffodils and tulip bulbs that I planted have started to bloom and the tulips and crocuses are getting ready to wake up. Now it’s time for me to cover the place in wildflowers. This is a big deal for me because it’s the first time I’ve tried to grow flowers from scratch, rather than buy and plant … plants.

and, now, onto something that has absolutely nothing to do with flowers…

Have a great week 🙂

This isn’t a photo of a photo, it’s a photo of a model that I found in the London Toy Museum. I’m sure you can guess from which fairytale it comes. My work with this one was to put a bit of effort into post processing in lightroom, boosting the contrast, bringing out the selective red and adding the vignette.

Have a great week 🙂
