Sweets – Smarties

September 13, 2010

One of the things I wanted to do with my macro lens was to get some nice close up sweet photos. I spent a week buying sweets and Elliot was only too pleased to help me set up shots, press the remote trigger and consume the leftovers. πŸ˜€ At the end of the week of shooting I figured, smarties are the best sweets for macro photography, strong colours and not too many different ones.

  1. Loving this one. I ate a whole tube the other day. Not a normal tube… one of those giant Christmas tubes! Greedy! πŸ™‚

  2. Did you keep it from Christmas until now! Wow… that’s willpower!

    • Afraid not. I bought it for Christmas on Friday and I ate the whole lot on Saturday. No willpower of any kind was on display over the weekend. LOL πŸ™‚

      • Oh dear! Then it was quite the opposite of what I thought. πŸ˜€

  3. Great shot. I like the way you capture simple patterns and colours. It’s really inspiring.

  4. Like the array of colors. Those are good candies – I have had them before.

We have an international food store in the city and and I have seen these Smarties in the English groceries isle. When I saw the title for this post, I was able to guess it has to be the candies πŸ˜‰

  5. Nice macro. I’ve used M&M’s before….

  6. Oh how I miss Smarties…they have a US candy called Smarties which are these “chalk” like things, nothing like real Smarties. Oh yea, love the colours, but damn you man…now I want REAL Smarties!

  7. Thanks for all the comments… I hope the rest of the sweets leave you all hungry πŸ˜€

  8. Love this Macro shot and the multiple lighting spots

  9. One of my fave snacks (and points of debate between myself and the American hubs, who insists that Smarties are those hard little rolled up candies one gets so many of at Halloween…they obviously don’t have REAL Smarties in the U.S. :))
