Isle of Wight – Lavender

October 20, 2012

If you’ve never been to the Isle of Wight and are ever nearby (i.e. in Southern England), give it a visit. A weekend is more than enough time to see it, and of course, go in Summer! Within a 30 minute period, one can drive across the island… ๐Ÿ™‚ Aside from the beautiful beaches I highly recommend a visit The Garlic Farm, and to the Lavender Farm.

Have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚

Bubble Blue

May 13, 2012

Well, this has been the first sunny weekend in maybe a couple of months. Saturday – sunny, Sunday – sunny. Beautiful!

and… what a lovely weekend it’s been. We took advantage of the lovely weather to get outdoors heading down to Pooh Country (Ashdown Forest), childhood home of A. A. Milne and the inspiration for his lovely works. Just wandering about in the hills, stumbling upon the enchanted forest, piglet’s pit and of course, playing poohsticks on the bridge. Lovely and most wonderfully, not in any way, shape or form commercialised. Free to do, and a lot of charming, easy happiness. What more can one ask for?

Well, after that, I noticed that we weren’t too far from Brighton so, rather than heading home, we headed further away, to the beach for a couple of hours. Lovely!

Of course, my camera was with ย me, so now I just have to PP the 400+ shots.. ๐Ÿ™‚ – I’m sure I’ll reduce that down when I throw out the rubbish photos.

Today – Theme Park Day – Back to Chessington, first time this year and, despite the gorgeous weather… not at all busy.

Best weekend this year. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is one of those photos with an obvious name… I really don’t like naming photos and so, I end up with stating the obvious for… it’s blue and has bubbles in it.

Have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚

Virginia Waters

April 29, 2012

There’s been a pleasant spike in visitors recently for which I’m really grateful for. I try to visit the blogs of everyone that leaves a like or comment but, sometimes the likes don’t have links…. Thank you to everyone that visits, and to those that leave ย a like or comment, it’s very much appreciated.

After a recent slump today I got back into taking some photos… a new batch… and still a few more ideas to work through next weekend. I tend to do batch photograph, then process them and have a few months worth. Right… right, it’s not ‘right’ but, it works for me… that way I can dedicate some time when I have it… and relax when I don’t.

Have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚

Pattern

February 5, 2012

So, finally we have snow… and, from what I remember, it’s the first time I recall the snow falling on a weekend. So, I can actually enjoy it with the kids today rather than complain about the fact that I will need to dig myself out to drive to work.

This photo has absolutely nothing to do with snow…

Have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚

Waterfall

January 29, 2012

This is a strange photo for me. It’s a waterfall that I photographed and posted when I started this blog but back then I processed it in black and white. This time I’m leaving it in colour and that, for me, is strange. A friend of mine recently bought a new camera so I took him to this park to get to know his camera better. Waterfall photography, I believe is perfect for learning about ISO, Aperture and all the things I’ve yet to read about in a book ๐Ÿ™‚

As always, have a great weekend.. ๐Ÿ™‚

When you wish…

January 22, 2012

Thank you all for sharing the stories of how you got into photography last week, it’s really good to learn a little bit more about all of you, and whilst our reasons for gettingย into photography is so varied one thing that is definitely the same is the passion. ย This year in the sales I went to a local store to see what they were getting rid of that I could use as a subject… ๐Ÿ™‚ This beautiful candle holder is one of the items I found. I don’t tend to use candles much but, I sure liked the holder ๐Ÿ˜‰ Setup for this was to put a lamp behind the holder and shine it through… some blue card underneath was used to capture the shadowy stars.

So, this week I’m pleased to say that once again I took photos… just need to process them now so that I can add to my wordpress photo stash ๐Ÿ˜‰

As always… have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚

Please… no more photos

December 19, 2011

Welcome back… to me ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m now back from South Korea and finally have some time off, two weeks ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for the comments for the last two blogs and I’m doing my best to catch up with all your posts that I’ve not gotten to as yet. Sad to say that I didn’t take my SLR to SK with me as I was going to be there on business and didn’t want to leave the camera in the hotel room all day. Still, I did take some photos with a phone I had and with my pocket camera. Will post more about South Korea soon.

So, the tree is up, it’s nicely decorated, the presents are all bought and just need to be wrapped and it’s time to sit together, enjoy some good food and watch Christmas movies. For me, I try to watch the following every year: Elf (best Christmas film!),ย Serendipity, Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail, Home Alone, The Grinch, Love Actually, ย Black Christmas (the original version), Miracle on 34th Street, Misery and Gremlins ๐Ÿ˜€ ย – ย What films do you try to watch every Christmas?

Well, here’s my weekly post and one that I quite like… after asking the kids to pose together nicely, Joshua and finally had enough and flopped to show me his disapproval. Turns out that it ended up being one of my favourite photos of the day. ๐Ÿ™‚

Good bye to going Out

November 6, 2011

Prior to having kids my weekends were generally spent playing on the XBOX, eating and watching films; I liked that a lot. After the kids were born that changed as I wanted to not raise them to be couch potatoes. ๐Ÿ˜€

From March 17th to November 6th we tend to go out almost every weekend and after that it’s time for me to work on other projects. So, why those dates? Well.. those are the dates that the Merlin owned Theme Parks in the UK are open and by Theme ย parks I really mean… Legoland Windsor.

Now that’s passed it’s time for me to finish restoring our bathroom, finish making the children’s DVDs with all the stuff I’ve recorded on the camcorder over the last 5 years, play the keyboard and actually do some more experimental photography. BUT first.. I need to sort out the 2000 photos I’ve taken with my pocket camera over the past year ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Imported to lightroom last night, now I need to tag, clear the rubbish out, ‘enhance’… I really should have done it throughout the year… oh well, better get that done so I can do the annual photobooks. ๐Ÿ™‚

Before you go, if you like stop motion photography (or jellybeans) check out this incredible video on Taylor’s blog, ‘What’s Normality anyways’

Have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚
