Ink Blot

May 20, 2012

Well honestly, I pointed and shot… no great back story, no amazing tale … just that’s about it.

I have a fear that Summer has gone… last week was pretty good and now it’s back to … well, it’s not raining but it’s not warm either. Come back Summer, I’m missing you.

Canary Wharf

August 1, 2011

This is a photo I took a few weeks ago from within the tube station at Canary Wharf.  Not much more to say… had a busy weekend at Legoland and the zoo.. a lot of walking, totally zonked now! 🙂

Have a great week…

Lines and Towers

July 17, 2011

I quite like the outcome of this photograph taken in Canary Wharf. So many wonderful glass fronted towers there that look stunning on a bright, sunny day. Boosted the contrast heavily on this after converting to black/white and the softened it a little.

Have a great week. 🙂

When is a Sail not a Sail?

June 20, 2011

It seems to be some sort of weird trend to make buildings look like boat sails and then charge a large premium to let people live in them. Dubai, Lisbon.. I’m sure there’s more. Still, they look quite interesting to me. Here’s a few photos of a couple of expensive places in Lisbon.

Parque das Nações

May 22, 2011

I went out today to a butterfly conservation area. I figured that it’d have some beautiful flowers, butterflies and bees. It had… none. So, then I visited a steam fair which we found in the area. Awful, was like some weird Craggy Island fair (google it). Consquently I got no photos … still, here instead is a photo taken from the best area in Lisbon, Parque das Nações. For an expo a few years ago, this place was recreated. It’s now home to an Oceanarium, Science Park, cable cars, variety of businesses, a huge shopping centre and best of all, wonderful outdoor art installations. Architecturally, it’s the very best part of Lisbon. So basically, if you have just a few hours in Lisbon, get the metro to this place and enjoy yourself. One word of advice, don’t take that little blue train ride, it’s awful, boring, pointless, bumpy and will just cost you 30 minutes of your life that you can never get back!

Eyes of a child

February 28, 2011

Young children have the most beautiful eyes. They’re eyes are filled with strong colours that seem to fade over time. Ever since I bought my macro lens I’d wanted to get a close up of Joshua’s eyes but I never managed it. Again, I failed to manage it as he moves far too quickly. 🙂 This photo was an extra shot that didn’t require me to get as close and I quite like how it turned out.

Have a great weekend.

Joshua – Smile

January 24, 2011

Here’s a lovely black and white photo of Joshua that I took for a competition entitled smiles. This was taken when he was splishing and splashing in the bath 🙂 I used my zoom lens so that I could fill the frame and then converted to black and white in lightroom.

Upstairs Downstairs

November 12, 2010

I don’t think I’ve posted this one before but, you never know. This was taken in Oxford, in The Ashmolean Museum. A great staircase for such a photo, the perfect staircase for it really. Ideally, if it were staged people would be moving down one flight of stairs and up another one but, alas, that’s not going to happen.

Well, same as always, have a great weekend!

Snowy Branches

November 11, 2010

This photograph was taken during last December when we had snowfall. Okay, so, I know there are Canadian readers who are very used to snow but here in England, we don’t handle snow well. When it starts, we stop. No public transport, no rubbish collection, no trains, no planes… nada, zip, nothing. UK + Snow = Standstill.

Natural History Roof

November 10, 2010

The Natural History Museum in London has a fantastic roof, as you’d expect from such a place. It was actually my friend Ammar that spotted what a good photo it’d make. Shame that I couldn’t make it perfectly symmetrical 😦
