Deer

July 3, 2011

To break up all the flower pictures I’ve been posting recently, here’s a picture of a Deer in Richmond Park. Not sure what else to say about it… πŸ™‚ The original photos was kind of boring, hence me playing with the colours in Lightroom. Whether I made it better or worse, I’m not sure but, I thought I’d try something different at least.

As always, have a great week.

  1. I’m a bit surprised you were able to get so close to this deer… they usually seem very wary when I come across them (were you using a fairly ‘strong’ lens)?!
A wonderful photo, Nigel… and I really like how you’ve processed it as well! πŸ™‚

  2. Wow! You were quite close, now weren’t you!? What a great thing to be able to see.

  3. Hi both of you, thanks for the comments as always πŸ™‚ I was just using a regular lens.. (18 – 135) and wasn’t all that zoomed with it. Richmond Park is a very large public park which is very popular for picnics, cycling, sports and general merriment. It has free roaming deer in which I guess have gotten very used to people. So, the deer weren’t too bothered about me getting so close to them, and also were quite happy to be stroked. Strangely, later on when we were throwing a frisbee about the deer came wandering through the area we (and many other people) were in. They were quite happy mingling with people… πŸ™‚ Check out http://www.royalparks.gov.uk/Richmond-Park.aspx if you want to see more about the park.

  4. How wonderful to have photographed one of these beautiful animals so close. Also – you are right – it is good to photograph different subjects from time to time.

  5. What a lovely creature – this shot could never be boring to me, either enhanced or SOOC.

  6. What a gorgeous creature – I don’t think I’ve ever been this close to a deer.

  7. I’ve been focused on the flowers myself these days..it’s good to mix it up. πŸ™‚ The muted colors actually make it quite an interesting shot. What a beautiful deer!

  8. Isn’t he/she beautiful and I love the muted colour. It would be lovely to have a few deer around here but alas no – the best I can offer is a Jersey cow or two! πŸ™‚

  9. She’s beautiful and I like the effect you choose to do. πŸ™‚

  10. I’ve never had the pleasure of getting so close to a deer. Lovely shot!
