Upstairs Downstairs

November 12, 2010

I don’t think I’ve posted this one before but, you never know. This was taken in Oxford, in The Ashmolean Museum. A great staircase for such a photo, the perfect staircase for it really. Ideally, if it were staged people would be moving down one flight of stairs and up another one but, alas, that’s not going to happen.

Well, same as always, have a great weekend!

  1. Nice. I like the composition. A slower shutter speed would have been nice, showing the movement. Good job though.

  2. Nice shot Nigel. I agree with Wesley about showing the movement. It’s interesting to see so many people actually use the stairs. Unfortunately, if that was here in the U.S. most would use the elevator.

  3. I agree with Emily! What I like about this are the two people at the top of the stair case…are they taking a breather? Just watching? Who knows, but I like! 😀

  4. I like the movement in this photo. The composition and spacing of the people makes my eye look at the whole image, not just part of it. I particularly like the way there’s a clump of people at the bottom left of the middle section who are moving in both directions and then the gap to the people in the top section.
