Cubes

November 5, 2010

I like this photo, although, I think it could do with some more work on it, maybe a different angle. The point of the photo was to capture the moment that the ice cubes and the fizzy drink met and I backlit it to really get the bubbles to show up. On Monday I’ll show you the setup for the past week’s photos.

Have a great weekend.

  1. You’re really getting into the backlighting aren’t you Nigel? I need to try thus myself at some point. Nice job.

    • After I did the first one, I though… I can make theme of this and get a whole week’s photos. πŸ˜‰ Tutorial follows on Monday, I’m looking forward to seeing what other people come up with.

  2. This is cool Nigel. Very surreal looking. It has been fun following your experiments all week.

I don’t know why but I see a crystal skull face in the image.Do you see it? The upper ice cube is the right eye, and the circle in the middle is the nose, and the ice cube on the lower right is the other eye. Okay… alien eggs, crystal skull… must be my creative imagination working overtime. πŸ˜‰ Have a good weekend. Looking forward to the tutorial. πŸ™‚

    • Huh. I looked, matched up what you identified and yep, I can kind of see it πŸ™‚

  3. This weeks backlighted photos have been so cool, and I think some of my favourite of yours so far, especially the fizzy lime! would you mind if I used the idea of a backlight as inspiration sometime? not the same subjects of course!

    • I don’t mind at all, I’d be honoured πŸ˜€ Thanks again for the joker Halloween makeup inspiration!

      • I just got that e-mail you sent me about that yesterday actually, very flattering πŸ˜€
        Thanks so much!

  4. This is great, I love the surreal textures.
