ds254 – Smooth Lights

August 3, 2010

This shot originated by accident. I wanted to do a dailyshoot photo (weekly) so here’s 254, a shot of a light source. This photo originated accidentally. I was trying to photograph some glo sticks with my macro lens. Blurring it allowed me to create this cool abstract effect. I’m not sure which one I like the most. I’d like to know which you prefer, and why. πŸ™‚

  1. I like the abstract feel on these shots. I think I like the first one – maybe because there isn’t as many hard spots and they look like eyes on peacock’s feathers.

  2. I am with Sasi on this one for the same reason, less hard spots, more visually pleasing to me. =)

  3. I also like the first one. The second shot kinda forces you to try to figure out what it is because of those hard spots. The first one just allows you to be pulled in by the colors. Nice.

    • Thanks for the comments guys, yep, the first one is smoother. πŸ™‚ Thanks for the feedback!

  4. The first one is very soft and pleasing to look at first glance. However, I like the second one because the hard spots give the scene more depth and movement. They look like colorful flying objects floating into the space. Just my 2 cents. πŸ˜‰

    • A different point of view! Interesting πŸ™‚

  5. I LOVE this effect, especially the first one for it’s softer blur. These images are a reminder that the camera is truly a creative tool and the possibilities of styles and subject matter are boundless.

  6. These are great. The first is my favourite too – more pleasingly smudgy. πŸ™‚

    • Smudgy πŸ™‚ what a great word to use πŸ™‚

  7. I think the top one… beautiful and a bit smoother! Very nice.

  8. The last one is gorgeous, man! Well done!
