Light Painting

July 6, 2010

I love painting with light, I don’t know much about it other than what I’ve learnt through playing but, I’m enjoying giving it a go. 🙂 I’m slowly picking up various light tools, the image below was created by doing a shortish long exposure (:D) and swinging around a keyring containing fibre optic lights.

  1. That is very cool. Beautiful colors. I’ve tried this a couple of times, but it hasn’t turned out this fantastic for me yet. I’ve also tried making macro images of the light shining off CD’s or DVD’s. There’s beautiful rainbow colors there as well.
How are you liking your Canon 450D? I need to upgrade from my Rebel XT soon.

  2. Hi Jan. Thanks for visiting. 🙂 The 450D is the first SLR I’ve owned and in the 7 months I’ve had it, I’m finding that I love it a little bit more every day. It’s a very good entry level camera, price is good and I’ve not myself unable to do anything that I wanted to do with it. With regards to the light painting, I found focusing to be the most difficult aspect. It was pretty much hit and miss for me, and I think the photo I put up here was 1 of about 3 good ones in 150 shots! If you want to know more about how to do this, I can email me you. Just let me know and I’d be happy to try and help. 🙂

  3. I’ve seen a few light paintings before but this has to be one of the nicest ones yet! Thanks for posting!

  4. 🙂 Thanks for visiting 🙂

  5. Great shot! Love the colors. See, you don’t need my help 🙂

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I responded to your comment on my blog. Let me know if what I said makes sense and feel free to ask more questions or make additional comments.

  6. Woohoo…*very* nice. Makes me want to have a play with this too (‘cept I’m not too sure what I’m doing with night/dark shots)! 🙂

  7. Spectacular. Love it!
