liquid – Melting

November 19, 2010

Well, this photo brings liquid week (1) to a close. If you’ve followed the whole week’s photos then you know what the object in this photograph is. I still find it so amazing how water and the speed at which the photo is taken can completely change the look of the original object. This photo hasn’t been manipulated in photoshop other than to darken it. I figured it didn’t need anything else.

I hope you enjoy liquid week, have a great weekend!

liquid – A Drop of Soap

November 18, 2010

This was the photo that started this week’s theme, a drop from a tab soap bottle. I think it took me about 20 attempts to get this photo and, it’s turned out nicely. The soap was actually a light blue but, I prefer this green look. ;) This pearlised tab soap is good for getting photos of (Cussons AntiBacterial Wash, in case you care), however, I’m pleased the kids didn’t see, after all, I keep telling them not to waste so much soap. After I’d finished taking my photos, there was a large puddle of soap around. Oh well, in the name of art ;)

liquid – warm

November 17, 2010

This was the second photograph I took. Simply, water flowing from the tap. Depending upon the shutter speed, it can really change the look of the water. As with the first photo, I played with it in photoshop to try to make the boring background of my bathroom a bit more interesting.

liquid – iBall

November 16, 2010

Before I hit upon the water idea, I’d been taking photographs using light for this week’s posts (now bumped to next week). I figured taking a photo of a marble in the water would be good. Although this photo isn’t as sharp as it should be, what I love about high-speed macro photography is clearly visible here, that drop on top of the marble that makes it look like a strange eye ball (although, some of you out there may think this looks more like some other body part – pervs.. :p).

liquid – A Drop

November 15, 2010

Taking photographs is fun, thinking of what to take… no so much. I don’t really follow daily shoots or other themes so, it makes things a bit more difficult. Whilst washing my hands I noticed that the tab soap was quite thick and, as such, slow to drip. That got me thinking about liquid photographs.  I decided to get up close and personal with liquid, actually up close and personal with water, and tab soap. I want to take this a bit further so, in two weeks from now, I hope to have some cooler liquid photos! Macro and hi-speed… perfect! Capturing what the eye doesn’t normally see is what I love the most about photography.

First up, when it’s repeated, it’s annoying and wastes water, but, when captured with a macro lens, it’s amazing.

As you can see, it’s all rather blue. I decided to spend more time with Photoshop to try and learn more about it. For this photo, I played with the curves to darken it slightly, and then I used the selective colour feature to make it all a bit more blue. Looks kind of like an O2 (UK mobile network) ad :)
