It’s been good having a week off work, although I extended that to a week off from running and a week off from posting… (mainly because when I remembered, I couldn’t be bothered)
Here’s a macro shot of a lemon juicer…

If you’ve never been to the Isle of Wight and are ever nearby (i.e. in Southern England), give it a visit. A weekend is more than enough time to see it, and of course, go in Summer! Within a 30 minute period, one can drive across the island…
Aside from the beautiful beaches I highly recommend a visit The Garlic Farm, and to the Lavender Farm.
Have a great week

Wow.. finally a summery weekend… lovely. Took the family on a surprise trip to the Isle of Wight this weekend and what a great place it is. An amazing amount of things to do considering the place is so small. Nice to finally see the sun shining…
The photo below is based upon an idea I found on Flickr… or somewhere else. It’s not perfect, and I can see how to improve it but.. ah… there you go…
Have a great week

Today was the first day that actually felt like March, warm weather, beautiful blue sky. So pleasant and a good change from the recent old spell. The daffodils and tulip bulbs that I planted have started to bloom and the tulips and crocuses are getting ready to wake up. Now it’s time for me to cover the place in wildflowers. This is a big deal for me because it’s the first time I’ve tried to grow flowers from scratch, rather than buy and plant … plants.
and, now, onto something that has absolutely nothing to do with flowers…
Have a great week

So, before I went away, I had a few ideas of experimental photographs that I wanted to try in the darkness… and this was one… kind off
On the first night, we decided to try and make an orb. A lot of different attempts finally resulted in the very first photo. Well done to Steven for perfecting it.
The other photos were some outdoor swinging of fairy light fun that he, Ammar and I had. Sadly after we got back I remembered that we forgot to paint the outdoor scene with a torch. If I’d done that our orb would have been ‘on’ something, rather than just in the black!
If you’re interested in the orbs, check out Evan’s excellent Photo Extremist blog.
Have a great week

So, if you were reading my blog in May you’ll remember that I took a walk to find bluebells and found none… since they had bloomed and died in April. Still, I was pleased to discover this pink bell
So, completely unrelated but quite amusing… today I took the kids to the cinema to watch Tangled.. (yes, I know it’s a bit old but they had a special kids showing). Anyway, as soon as the film finished, I quickly took the youngest to the toilet before it got busy. When I walked into the toilets I though, wow, that’s a lot of cubicles… pretty good for a cinema. He did his um.. business… and as we left the cubicle I thought, how smart am I to have rushed here whilst all the others were queued up for the toilet. I found it strange that all of the other kids in the toilet were girls… and then realised they were all with their mothers, whilst I was with my son. As one of them gave me a rather disapproving look, it dawned on me that I was in their territory as we quickly washed our hands and exited the girls toilets…
Today, I also discovered that I cannot speak covertly in front of my elder boy, (five). I asked my wife, ‘Are we going to T.R.U?’ We decided not to and then got in the car to drive… he then says, ‘So, are we going to T.R.U?’ I followed this by asking, ‘and what is T.R.U?’ to which he replied, ‘Toys R Us.’ We went to T.R.U.
Have a great week.
